The earth reeked of it now, my blood from the past few days having always soaked into it, creating a mud that seeped into the open wounds on my body. “Be a good girl now.” The High Lord laughed as he left, leaving me bloody on the floor. “Then go and Azriel.” The shadowsinger stopped as the High Lord spoke. “Find her, if its the last thing you do.” They won’t know if I stick to the shadows.” Azriel explained. “Maybe, but i can always go and try and locate her myself. Do nothing and they torture my daughter, do something and they kill her.” ![]() They have us in a fine situation and they know it. Only they know where she is, Azriel said it himself that even his spies there haven’t any word on her. “We can’t just do nothing.” Rhys whispered. “They will kill her.” Yet, they also couldn’t do anything while they had her for fear of what they may do to her further. Even that spring fool couldn’t expect them to sit by while his sister remained their hostage. The letter had arrived that morning, a threat as much as it was a taunt. “We can’t storm the Spring Court.” His father snapped, scowling at the taunting letter he had gotten from Tamlin. Closing her eyes, she prayed to the cauldron that someone would find her. Sighing, I attempted to get as comfortable as my abused body would allow me, tucking my knees to my chest for warmth. Unlike Rhys, I wasn’t gifted with the ability to control darkness, which meant that I had no way to control the one that threatened to swallow me whole. I held a hand up in front of my face, sighing when I noticed that I couldn’t see it. He will never even know his precious little girl is hidden beneath his feet.” With a laugh, he slammed the door shut, leaving me alone in impenetrable darkness. “My father is going to kill you.” I gasped, glaring up at him. I made it as close to the wall I dared, my arms giving out as I curled up on my side. They were pinned together at the top, a long piece of curved ash wood keeping them pinned. I managed to get onto my hands and knees and crawled away from the bottom of the steps, my wings protesting with each movement of my shoulders. ![]() Behind him, looking like he was starting to regret it, was Tamlin, his green eyes soft as they met mine over his father’s shoulder. From above me the man High Lord of Spring gave a cruel chuckle, his eyes glowing as i lifted my head to stare at him. I couldn’t help the cry that escaped my lips as I fell hard onto the cold, damp Earth. It isn’t until she discovers her true power that she is freed. Imogen hadn’t been seen in months, not since her the High Lord of the spring court murdered her older sister and mother, leaving her brother and two best friends to try and figure out where she was.
